How to gift tokenized stocks to a friend

by Ali Tiknazoglu · updated oct 27, 2026

The simplest way to gift real stock onchain is a gift box. You pick what it holds - Coinbase tokenized stocks like NVIDIA or Apple, USDC or ETH - design it and send it to a friend's wallet or share one link with a crowd. It stays sealed until they open it, then what's inside lands in their wallet. Nothing is random: what you put in is what they get.

What a gift box holds

  • Coinbase tokenized stocks, USDC or ETH. One of them or a mix, in amounts you choose. Every box you send holds the same.
  • A design of your own. Box and ribbon colours, a title up to 16 characters and stickers. Designs are free.
  • A note, if you like. Up to 140 characters, shown with the box.

Make a gift box in four steps

  1. Step 1: fill a box

Open giftedstock.com/gift and pick what each box holds: a Coinbase tokenized stock, USDC or ETH - or a few of them.

  2. Step 2: choose who it's for

A fren: their wallet address or a name like name.base.eth, up to 100 wallets at once, each with a box of their own. Or a link: up to 100,000 boxes behind it, one per wallet, first come, first served. Open it to anyone or only to wallets on a list you upload and set when claims open and close.

  3. Step 3: design it

Choose its colours, a title and stickers and add a note if you like. A design costs nothing.

  4. Step 4: pay once

Pay with tokenized stocks you already hold or with USDC or ETH: the stocks are bought on Aerodrome in the same transaction. A 2.5% fee goes on top. Confirm once and it's sent.

How your friend opens it

A direct gift is already in their wallet: they connect it on giftedstock.com/gift and press Open. From a link, they open it, connect a wallet and claim one box, then open it the same way. What's inside lands in their wallet in one transaction.

  • A wallet on Base. An address or a name like name.base.eth. No Coinbase account.
  • A little ETH on Base. Opening has no fee of its own; the network fee is usually under a cent.
  • To live where they may hold it. Coinbase tokenized stocks are not offered to US persons and not everywhere else either.

Until it's opened, Gifted Stock shows only who sent it, its note and its design. It's onchain though, so anyone who looks the box up on Basescan can see what it holds. A sealed box can be sent on to another wallet like any NFT; once opened, it stays with them as a record of the gift.

After you share a link

  • Boxes nobody claimed stay yours. Take them back anytime from your sent gifts: what they hold returns to your wallet.
  • Top it up. Add more boxes to the same link, paid the same ways.
  • Make a new link. It replaces the old one, which stops working.
  • Keep your link. It lives only in the browser you made it in. Lost it? Make a new one from your sent gifts.
  • No deadline. Gift boxes don't expire: a box stays sealed until it's opened.

Or gift a mystery box

A mystery box is the surprise version, on Base or Robinhood Chain. Buy a normal box for $0.10 or a premium box for $1, then press Gift box on your profile and enter your friend's wallet. When they open it, a random slice of a real stock lands in their wallet. How to buy and open a box.

Or send the stock itself

If you already hold a stock, you can send the token like any other token from your wallet: a tokenized stock is a B20 token on Base and a stock token is an ERC-20 token on Robinhood Chain, so any wallet on that chain can receive it. Questions

Does my friend need a Coinbase account?

No. A wallet on Base is enough to claim a gift box and open it. What's inside goes to that wallet.

Can I choose which stock my friend gets?

Yes. A gift box holds exactly what you put in: each stock and its amount. A mystery box picks its prize at random.

Do I need my friend's wallet address?

Not for a gift link: share it and they claim a box with their own wallet. A direct gift needs their address or a name like name.base.eth.

How many people can I gift at once?

Up to 100 wallets in one direct gift, each with a box of their own. Or up to 100,000 boxes behind one link, one per wallet.

What does a gift box cost?

What you put inside plus a 2.5% fee on top. Designs are free and opening has no fee. Network fees on Base are usually under a cent.

What if my friend never opens it?

It stays sealed in their wallet with no deadline. Boxes nobody claimed from a link stay yours to take back.

Can my friend see what's inside before opening?

Not on Gifted Stock: a box shows who sent it, its note and its design until it's opened. It's onchain though, so anyone who looks it up on Basescan can see what it holds.

Can I gift stock on Robinhood Chain?

Gift boxes are on Base. On Robinhood Chain, gift a mystery box or send stock tokens from your wallet.

Can I gift a box to someone in the US?

Coinbase tokenized stocks are not offered to US persons, so a friend in the US should not open one. Check the rules where they live first.
